Steve Butler is a chaplain at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir, North Carolina where he has served since 2003. Steve is a native of Chicago and has also served as a parish minister, and as a college chaplain at universities in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Ohio. Steve Butler’s academic work includes a bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College and a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degree from the Chicago Theological Seminary. Steve is an Associate Chaplain through the Association of Professional Chaplains and has been an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ since 1983. Steve also has over 20 years of
history as a soccer coach at levels ranging from U-8 recreational teams to Division III college womens soccer, including coaching a team at the 1993 World Scholar Athlete Games. He and his wife have 3 grown children and 4 living grandchildren. Hobbies include golf, genealogy, and flower gardening. Steve has also written, "We Are Known As Christ's Disciples", a Christian Education resource for children in grades 1-3, published through the curriculum series, "Discipleship Alive!" and also a family history.
